Organized by GFLSCI (Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International), Muğla-Turkey Chair, If I Were Mayor Essay Contest started in 2011 with the announcement of April 23rd as “Children’s Day” by the City Mayor of Fort Lauderdale and continued until today. GFLSCI President Russell Weaver, Mugla/Turkey Chair-Seda Turhan. The FTAA and the Consulate give full support to the event, which is organized within the scope of GFLSCI every year.
The awards ceremony held at Fort Lauderdale City Hall, Miami Consul General Mr. Feyza Barutcu Altug participated. Prizes were awarded to the winners of the competition and to the FTAA by Proclamation Cıty Mayor Mr. Trantalis.
